Calculator FAQs

How is my UCR fee calculated?

Your fee depends only on how many power units you operate — six brackets from 0–2 units ($46 in 2026) up to 1,001+ units. The count comes from your most recent MCS-150 filing. Trailers never count.

What counts as a power unit for UCR?

Self-propelled commercial vehicles: tractors, straight trucks, and buses. Trailers, semi-trailers and dollies are excluded. Brokers and freight forwarders with no vehicles use 0 and pay the lowest bracket.

Is this the exact amount I'll pay on UCR.gov?

This calculator shows the government bracket fee. UCR.gov may add a small processing charge at checkout. EasyUCR's exact-fee check pulls your actual FMCSA power-unit count so the bracket is right before you pay anything.

Can I lower my UCR fee?

Only legitimately: if your fleet shrank, file an MCS-150 update before registering so your bracket reflects your real count. Dropping from 6 to 5 trucks, for example, moves you down a full bracket.
